How often can you use Advantix on dogs?

A single application of K9 Advantix® II remains effective for four weeks. However, if the dog has a severe infestation, retreatment within a month may be necessary. Do not retreat more than once every seven days not to exceed weekly treatments. After flea control is attained, return to a monthly treatment schedule.

K9 Advantix II Flea & Tick Treatment for Small Dogs can help safeguard your tiny pup from parasitic pests and the potentially dangerous diseases they can transmit. This broad-spectrum treatment, which is recommended by veterinarians, is designed to fend off and kill fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes on contact without the need for a stinging bite. Additionally, it eliminates all flea life stages to prevent re-infestation and even eliminates lice while deterring biting flies. Even after bathing or swimming, the waterproof formula for dogs and puppies 7 weeks of age or older and weighing between 4 and 10 pounds keeps working for up to four weeks.

Use only on dogs and puppies who are at least 7 weeks old and weigh between 4 and 10 pounds. DO NOT USE ON CATS. Do not get this product in dogs eyes or mouth. Before using this product on weak, old, pregnant, or nursing animals, as with any product, consult your veterinarian. Individual sensitivities may develop after using ANY pesticide product on dogs, despite their rarity. If signs persist, or become severe, consult a veterinarian immediately. Consult your veterinarian before using this or any other product if your pet is taking medication. Keep out of reach of children.

Even for larger dogs, don’t use more than one tube per treatment. Under normal circumstances, one dose will last 4 weeks. However, earlier re-treatment is permitted in cases of severe flea infestations in order to establish control. Avoid retreating more frequently than once every seven days in these circumstances. Return to a monthly re-treatment schedule once flea control has been achieved.

Each of the four products in the K9 Advantix II line corresponds to a certain weight range for dogs and puppies. There are separate ones for small dogs (under 4 pounds), medium dogs (between 11 and 20 pounds), large dogs (between 21 and 55 pounds), and extra large dogs (over 55 pounds). The applied dose is higher for dogs which weigh more. See the dosage by weight chart below. In all four products, the active ingredient formulation is the same. Products made by K9 Advantix II are especially designed for dogs that fall within certain weight ranges and tested for both efficacy and safety. Every month, the correct medication must be given in its entirety. If the manufacturer’s instructions on the label are not strictly followed, control measures could fail. Don’t under-dose or over-dose pets. Splitting treatments between various dogs by pet owners can occasionally result in under-dosing. Under-dosing can also arise from toxicity fears.

FAQ

Why does my dog still have fleas after Advantix?

Even though it might happen much more quickly, fleas jumping onto your pet could take up to 24 hours to die. There are no flea remedies that prevent fleas from biting pets. This means that until the flea product kills it, you may still see fleas on your pet, despite the fact that you are using a licensed flea treatment.

Can I apply advantage after 2 weeks?

One treatment of Advantage® II is effective for 1 month. Clients should not re-treat more frequently than once every seven days. In cases of severe flea infestation, re-treatment may be necessary earlier than 4 weeks.

Can I give my dog Advantage flea twice in a month?

To help protect your pet from fleas, we suggest applying Advantage once a month.

How soon can I give my dog another flea treatment?

The well-known safe solution is to wait the recommended amount of time for the product to work, usually 30 days, before reapplying. An alternative is to give the pet a detergent shampoo bath that is designed to remove skin oils, then reapply the treatment after 24 hours.
