The eleventh book in the bestselling Dog Man series by Dav Pilkey, titled Dog Man: Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea, will hit bookstore shelves in March.
Since the publication of Mothering Heights in 2021, this will be the first new Dog Man volume. However, Pilkey hasn’t been idle; the fourth installment, Collaborations, of his Cat Kid Comic Club series, a Dog Man spinoff, will be released in November.
In the press release, Pilkey said, “I am humbled and grateful to do what I love for a living.” Since the pandemic started, I’ve been motivated to write more stories, learn more about art, and develop as an illustrator. I’ve experimented with different media to make comics, such as photography, poetry, and calligraphy, and I’ve built character models and sets by hand. I’ve also explored various themes and storylines. My books are meant to encourage imagination and creativity while also instilling a lifelong love of reading. ”.
The 25th anniversary of another Pilkey creation, Captain Underpants, occurs this year. The Adventures of Captain Underpants, the first Captain Underpants book, will be released by Scholastic in a special anniversary edition for the occasion with a bonus 32-page comic featuring Dog Man and Captain Underpants. Look for it in stores on March 7.
Dav Pilkey’s Epic Comic Club is a new website that Scholastic has launched to promote Pilkey’s works and allow kids to upload their own comics.
